Developing the reading fluency of your learners can be a step forward towards functional literacy. Reading fluency pertains to the ability of your learners to read accurately, properly, and with the right expressions. Learners who are considered fluent in reading can recognize words without difficulties and understands well the texts. Fluency is vital for learners to go from word recognition to comprehension. Children with reading fluency can have less time decoding the words and more time to process and comprehend. While those who are not fluent will spend more time in decoding words and less time in comprehension.

Therefore, parents and teachers are advised to provide their kids/learners with reading materials that will lead them to better reading fluency. Providing them with materials like sight words, phrases, and sentences that will help them to read easily and with less pressure is important.
