Reading is an important ingredient in functional literacy. Children, at an early age, should be well guided to interact with various learning materials that include ones for reading. While some are letting their kids play most of the time, it is better to allot specific time in a day in teaching them how to read.

Kids from kindergarten way up to grade 2 are mostly just learning how to read, while in 3rd grade the are expected to read for them to learn. Undoubtedly, reading is the best skill a child should have to be able to understand everything found on books, boards, labels, and more.

Building a strong reading foundation to our children is like getting them fully equipped in venturing to the field of knowledge. Learners in the 3rd grade should have started to be fully independent in reading and be able to understand the meaning of the texts as well as their purpose.
