Face-to-face classes in selected areas proposed
Senator Francis Tolentino proposes to have face-to-face classes to selected areas in the country to better serve the learners in amid the existing crisis in the country.
According to Tolentino, these areas are those with minimal to no cases of COVID-19. He said that the Department of Education should reconsider this since distance-learning might be difficult for many especially those who are in need of face-to-face interactions.
“Napakalaking challenge talaga sa DepEd kung ano ang gagawin nila but I guess ‘yung areas na mababa ang incidence ng COVID-19, eh baka pwedeng i-partial face-to-face na ‘yun. I’m talking of island provinces” he said.
Currently, the President does not allow face-to-face classes to avoid the risk of infecting the school children and the spread of the virus. The Department of Education follows this command from the President as they prepare for different learning modalities to provide education without the F2F interactions.
DepEd extended the enrollment until July 15, 2020, to accommodate those who are still interested to enroll for this school year.
